Trying to Rent Rushmore

Blockbuster Checkout Guy: Hey! We were born one day apart! I was born on March 21st!
Blockbuster Checkout Girl: Yeah, but, like, a million years apart.
Blockbuster Checkout Guy: No, it's not too bad. Same decade, at least.
Me: Uh. You're making me feel old. What year were you born?
Blockbuster Checkout Guy: '89.
Me: Yes. Feeling so very old.
Blockbuster Checkout Guy: Aw, you're not that old.

When I was student teaching, my freshmen were born in 1990 and 1991. They thought it was crazy and funny that I was born in 1982. It feels weird to be ten years older than high schoolers. What also is crazy is that those students are now juniors. Which means that the class that became freshmen in college this year were sixth-graders when we started college. OLD.
Way to go for renting Rushmore. Great film.

Remember that Shakira song "Underneath Your Clothes"? I was talking to some teenage girls in our youth group and one of them mentioned how she hated Shakira and that "Underneath Your Clothes" song that came out when she was in ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.
Let me grab my back pills.

I learned to drive when Reagan was in office. I work for a university and everyone here was born in Bush's (the senior) presidency.

I was teaching grade 9 the other day and the students admitted they had no idea who New Kids on the Block were. And because I'm psycho, I couldn't let it go because well, it's The NEW KIDS. EVERYBODY knows them. But they didn't. Even after repeated questioning. It was strange and awful.
