Today, I Am
*December 17, 2007
Wearing a white collared shirt I bought at Express when I was fifteen. I've worn it maybe three times in the past ten years, but it has somehow managed to remain hanging in my closet. It has managed to remain hanging in nine different closets, in fact. Although it is cut well, I don't wear it a lot because it sounds like I'm sitting down on that paper in doctor's offices whenever I move in it. So today I'm wearing a black shirt over it to minimize the paper sound. The white shirt is a size 7/8. I now wear a size 2 from Express. I have not lost weight; sizes have changed a lot in ten years. Though I have to admit that I didn't really know my size when I was fifteen. Notably, Express doesn't do odd sizes anymore.
Eating a cookie for breakfast.
Sporting a shade of lipstick called "Certainly Red."
Recovering from watching Atonement yesterday. I started crying halfway through and didn't stop until a half hour after the movie was over. I still feel gaspy.
Listening to Sufjan Stevens' Songs for Christmas on repeat for the fifth week in a row.
More certain than ever that 25 will be a tough birthday. The most recent surge of certainty was brought on by the fact that my friend Lee Ella (are we friends, LE?) just turned 26 and announced that she's now too old to be a character in an F. Scott Fitzgerald novel. This didn't seem to bother her too much, but now the prospect of ever being anything over the age of 24 is terrifying to me. I know this is an immature viewpoint, and I'm okay with that. I'm allowed to be slightly immature at 24, right? Three more blessed months of immaturity. And then I'm screwed. And no longer young in Fitzgerald's eyes. Which breaks my heart more than I know it should.
Finishing The Time Traveler's Wife as soon as I get off work.
Unsure which tags to include with this post.

I'd love to hear more of your thoughts on Atonement and The Time Traveler's Wife. I still haven't decided if I should see Atonement in theaters. And I loved the Time Traveler's Wife. I thought it was the freshest "fairytale" out there recently.

the size thing is so weird. I also have a size 5/6 from express that still fits. I now wear a 0 there. From American Eagle I have jeans in sizes 6, 4, 2, 0 that ALL still fit from over the years. I dont get it, where are all the smaller people shopping? do they just not exist anymore? I mean, i know I am thin, but I know people smaller than me! do they just resort to kids clothing??

I'm afraid of 25 too. It's coming up in two weeks. Sigh...

I can't wait to see Atonement - and I cried just reading the book. Eek. :)
Time Traveler's Wife is one of the three books I'm limiting myself to take overseas with me, because I love it so much.
Happy Tuesday!

I'm interested in what you think of the Time Traveler's Wife. I read it over the summer for my book group and while I got through it pretty quickly, I was somewhat disturbed by the book as a whole. Probably a reflection of my current depressed and anxious state!
