Six Not-So Random Things, Star Wars Edition
*June 26, 2008
Do y'all remember when the word "random" came into vogue? Suddenly everything was "random." That bizarre thing someone said was random. That coincidence? How random was that?
But if everything is random, isn't nothing random?
Anyway. I was tagged to do this meme on six random things about me roughly thirteen million years ago. But I've been busy getting my life in order. Though my life is still much more on the random side, I feel it's now orderly enough for me to list six random things about myself.
But, really, these aren't so random, because it's a special Star Wars themed list. Ha!
(For a much more extensive list of "random" things about me, see my 100 Things.)
1. I did not watch one single Star Wars film until last week. I am 25 years old.
2. Chad and I had a deal that I would finally watch the entire series when he finally took me to France. The day I had a plane ticket to Paris in my name, we watched Episode IV.
3. I watched the series in this order: IV, I, II, III, V, VI.
4. This means that I did not find out that Luke and Leia are brother and sister until the end of Episode III. I would wager that I am the only person in the entire world who found out that Luke and Leia are brother and sister on the occasion of their birth.
5. I thought Episodes IV-VI were incredibly boring. Which is why we watched the new ones after watching the first old one. The new ones? Not so boring.
5a. Am still working on Episode VI, in fact. We manage only 20 minutes at a time because I keep falling asleep. The next time I'm struggling with insomnia, I know exactly what to do.
6. I wish that I had a Yoda stuffed animal so that I could cuddle with him a little, and he would tell me about the force, and everything would be okay.

Empire Strikes Back - Episode V - is the hard core fan favorite and I admit, it is pretty good. Lucas loved to ruin his movies with stupid characters like Jar Jar and Ewoks. I could have used more Natalie Portman and Princess Leia in a gold bikini myself.
I remember watching episode IV 6 times when I was a kid at the theater. I was 6 or 7 and I can't believe my parents let me go ALONE to the movies at 6. But it was amazing every time I saw it. And it was only 50 cents to see a movie.

I agree with the above comment. Empire Strikes Back is my favorite.
If you had a Yoda stuffed animal, my wager would be that he would bore you with his self-righteous lectures about life.
I am more of an Obi Wan Kenobi girl. Well and Has Solo of course. Hans Solo is my Star Wars boyfriend.

@ Sarah
Please tell me more about this "Has Solo" character.
Sincerely,
Chad

@ Chad
Why, why do you always have to be so awesome?
Has Solo is my typo for Hans Solo. *sigh* I wish I was clever enough to think of something snide to say. I can't. You win.

@ Sarah
Isn't it Han Solo?
Lots of love,
S.

@ Spring and Chad
I am so glad that the two of you found each other.
Yes it is Han Solo.
Blah.

It's one of D's biggest annoyances when people use the word random incorrectly, which they usually do. And it actually sort of bugs me now too.

I've never seen any Star Wars film. Ever.

Thanks.
I loathe "random" but somehow can't stop using it.
I've never seen Star Wars. But I've seen Space Balls, an 80s parody, several times.

I've never seen a Star Wars movie all the way through -- I always fall asleep too.
But I bought my boyfriend in high school (who was a big Star Wars fan) a stuffed Yoda that talked. It was pretty awesome.
And I have to point out that Yoda wouldn't tell you everything would be OK. He would say it in his Yoda language, so it would come out something like, "OK it will be."
